Contractors license bonds increase to $12,500. Unlike three years earlier when license bonds were raised to $10,000, Bonds of Qualifying Individual were raised this time as well, also to $12,500. CSIA bonds with Surety Company of the Pacific are automatically raised to the new amount at no charge.

All licenses with a Roofing (C-39) classification are required to have a valid Certification of Workers' Compensation Insurance regardless of whether or not they have employees.

Pursuant to legislation passed in 2003, the required amount of a contractor's bond will increase from $10,000 to $12,500 on January 1, 2007. Under the same legislation, the bond amount for bonds of qualifying individual will increase from $7,500 to $12,500.

Governer Schwarzenegger signs AB 881, requiring all licenses with a Roofing (C-39) classification to have a valid Certification of Workers' Compensation Insurance regardless of whether or not they have employees. The new law comes into effect 1/1/2007.

The CSLB's Home Improvement Certification (HIC) Program and its requiredments ends pursuant to the legislation that created it. Therefore, the CSLB no longer offers the certification, and contractors do not need it to enter into home improvement contracts.
