usiness Owners Policies, often called "BOPS", are insurance policies that combines both protection for property (such as furnishings, fixtures, valuable papers and equipment in case of fire, theft or damage), and general liability insurance coverage (which helps protect business assets against any alleged property or bodily damage to someone else). BOPs are generally purchased when a business has a retail store front in addition to their contracting business; such as a show room for carpets and flooring or a retail store for a cabinet maker.

Is a BOP all the coverage I’ll need?

BOPs do not cover professional liability, auto insurance, workers compensation or health and disability insurance. While a Business Owner Policy can be a very good package product for a contractor with a storefront to have, it is not intended to be the only insurance that is needed. At a minimum, Workers Compensation insurance to cover employees and a Commercial Automobile policy to cover business vehicles will be needed.

Do I need a BOP, or is Liability coverage enough?
