• Covers specific installations with a shorter duration than Builder’s Risk
  • Usually purchased by artisan contractors performing smaller jobs
  • Covers risk of loss while in transit and in the process of rigging
  • Covers work done on existing building or structures

W

hile home builders will usually obtain a Builder’s Risk policy to cover their jobs under construction, an artisan contractor will often only need an installation floater. An Installation Floater provides temporary property insurance to help protect the value of labor and materials of the work in progress in the event that it is damaged. Coverage starts while the materials are in transit to the jobsite and ends once the job is completed or the owner accepts the work.

How do I know if I should get an Installation Floater or Builder’s Risk coverage?

Builder’s Risk is needed by a contractor that is building a structure, such as a home, while an Installation Floater is needed for property that is movable, such as items that need to be installed on a building.
